The Business Office of the Norristown Area School District is responsible for the preparation, presentation, monitoring and reporting of the annual District budget. Additional responsibilities include the preparation of annual financial statements, payroll administration, tax collection, accounts receivable and payable, purchasing, management of debt service and investments, monitoring of capital assets, and acting as the liaison for external financial audits. The Department also provides oversight of the financial aspects of state and federal programs, and coordinates grant writing and subsequent financial reporting.
The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is an annual report that tells the financial story of the school system through narrative descriptions, detailed financial statements, and supplemental charts/graphs. The CAFR not only gives the summary and detailed information for the school year being reported, but also includes information for the previous ten years.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to our District for our Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports for the years ended June 30, 2005, June 30, 2006, June 30, 2007, June 30, 2008, June 30, 2009, June 30, 2010 and June 30, 2011.
