Paul V. Fly Elementary School, named for the first school board president, (1965-1968) is located in East Norriton Township, with a portion of its over 530 student population also drawn from the Borough of Norristown, creating a microcosm of the world, rich in diversity.
Paul V. Fly has met its No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Average Yearly Progress (AYP) targets since the beginning of the federal initiative. In 2001, the school was chosen as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
The school is proud to have an active Parent Faculty Club which has been instrumental in supporting the schools efforts in achieving academic excellence. The PFC meets the first Thursday of every month at 7 PM. All are welcome to be the first to find out what is happening in our school!
Among other offerings, the school implements a character education approach, promoting the Six Pillars of Character- trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship.
Paul V. Fly is committed to the development of the whole child. In conjunction with federal and district initiatives, the Paul V. Fly Elementary School is involved in efforts to ensure that all students’ nutritional needs are met, in addition to their academic well being. Among the activities initiated to achieve optimum health and wellness are, The Walking Club, The Diabetes Walk, Pack a Healthy Snack Week, The Great American Apple Crunch, Turn Off TV Week, ACES Day (All Students Exercise Simultaneously), and having healthy pod parties for each grade level, based on NASD Beverage and Snack Guidelines.
MISSION: The mission of Paul V. Fly Elementary is to provide our diverse student body an education in a supportive, safe environment that welcomes all, promotes character education, self-discipline, high levels of motivation, a sense of belonging and excellence in learning. Paul V. Fly Elementary joins the community and parents to assist the students in developing skills to become independent and self-sufficient citizens who will succeed and contribute responsibly in a global community.
VISION: Paul V. Fly is committed to the development of each student to his/her potential. In order to fulfill this commitment, we will provide an effective education that addresses social skills, creativity, and critical thinking; thereby allowing students to become problem solvers, lifelong learners, and productive members of society. In addition, we will encourage community and family involvement in order to foster an environment of mutual respect and trust, as well as promote social, intellectual, and emotional growth among all students.
