Opened in September 1992, Whitehall Elementary School, located in West Norriton Township, houses kindergarten through fourth grades. The over 400 students who attend Whitehall are drawn from the entire district’s community. Whitehall also is the center for children with Autism/Pervasive Developmental Disorder.

Whitehall is fortunate to have many programs to assist our children with their school experiences. We have seven computers in every classroom for student use and the library is fully equipped with computers for each student. In addition, we have a mobile laptop lab.

Whitehall receives funding from a Reading First grant that provides two full-time reading coaches who work with our teachers on various methods and strategies to use in their classrooms. Whitehall has two full-time reading specialists and one full-time math specialist who work with our students so that every child will reach proficiency in these areas. Title I monies have provided extra teachers to work with our children in the areas of reading, math and language acquisition.

Volunteers from Big Brothers Big Sisters meet with their little brothers/sisters during the student’s lunchtime. Norristown Area Communities That Care for Youth provide programs to assist our parents with techniques to provide a nurturing safe home environment for their family.

Whitehall’s behavior plan is focused around teaching children how to make good choices. The plan is consistent in every classroom, so that the children know what is expected of them. Throughout the course of the year, we have various celebrations to acknowledge the good choices that our children have made. The guidance counselor leads the children and staff in a character education program that is integrated with guidance lessons and with our No Place for Hate program.

Parents, students, and teachers are very proud of Whitehall’s learning community. If you would like to see Whitehall’s dynamic learning community, please call 610-630-6000 to schedule a visit.
