  • Relevate Youth Dance

The young ladies in the attached picture are members of the Relevate Youth Norristown Residency Dance Program brought to us by Ms. Madden in her Communities and Schools Site Coordinator position. This afternoon Ms. Madden and I attended the 12th annual West Chester Dance Works Luncheon Concert and Silent Auction to watch our young ladies perform with other dancers in this company. This program, offered by West Chester Dance Works is exclusive to SMS and the purpose is to expose students to dance through artistic and technical instruction as well as using dance as a vehicle for personal expression. The young ladies practiced once a week in our instrumental music room after school. Under the direction of Ms. Diane Matthews, an original member of Philadanco and a graduate of Philadelphia School of Dance Arts, West Chester University and Philadelphia College of the Arts our girls flourished. Our young ladies put on an amazing performance that I hope you will see at our talent show. If you see them in the hallways or teach them please congratulate them on an amazing performance.
