In the “Beyond School Walls” program, the Stewart students have an opportunity to spend time with a volunteer mentor, or “Big Brother” or “Big Sister” in a professional work environment.

The students are transported to BNY Mellon in King of Prussia every other Thursday during lunch. Employees from BNY Mellon volunteer to share their lunch hour with the children whose parents signed them up for the program. Each child enrolled was matched with a BNY Mellon employee BIG.

However, on March 13, the BIGS came to Stewart to visit with their LITTLE, eat lunch, tour the building, and play a variety of games.

The goals of the program are to provide children from Stewart Middle School with an additional positive adult friend and role model and expose them to local career opportunities.

The students enjoy the fun of friendship and individual attention, and parents know their child is spending time with a responsible, caring adult. The Bigs spend time with the child they mentor by playing games, exposing them to the corporate world and otherwise acting as a friend.
