• During the summer of 2012, major renovation projects are underway at Stewart and Eisenhower Middle Schools while some other smaller projects are taking place around the District. Both middle schools are getting new windows, roofs, and mechanical systems; and yes, this means they are being outfitted with air-conditioning! We look forward to showing off the improvements to our students, staff, and families when we reopen for the 2012-13 school year.

During 2011, we completed renovations at Gotwals Elementary School and Norristown Area High School.
The renovations at Gotwals included replacing windows and doors, replacement of the HVAC system that incorporated new unit ventilators in each classroom, as well as, air handlers for administrative areas and new boilers. Also included was new landscaping in front of the school with some decorative fencing.

The High School had all new air handlers installed, motion sensors for lights, new auditorium seating and roof top HVAC equipment installed for the gymnasium and natatorium. We also had major changes in the forum area. They include new concrete, a living wall (green screen), and rain chains in place of downspouts that hang in front of the new connector ramp. The new ramp was a major improvement as students and staff can now transport directly from the academic building to the athletic wing.

The High School improvements concluded with the addition of nine new classrooms; construction of these has been completed and students will begin using these in September 2012.

Also, on the High School campus, the construction of the first phase of the new athletic field has been completed.
