Kindergarten Resource Handbook

Kindergarten Resource Handbook-Spanish

We are excited to have you and your child at Whitehall Elementary School. We have created and posted a parent resource guide to help you get acclimated. Below you will also find the Kindergarten Orientation Letter with details about this special upcoming event.

Dear Kindergarten Parent/Guardian,

Greetings from Whitehall Elementary School. We are looking forward to meeting you and your kindergarten child for orientation on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

The purpose of this orientation is to give both students and parents an opportunity to meet the teacher and become familiar with the classroom routines in an informal atmosphere. We trust that this visit will help alleviate any anxieties and make for an easy transition on the first day of school.

Transportation WILL NOT be provided for the Kindergarten Orientation. Each kindergarten student MUST be accompanied by a parent/guardian on August 25th. It is very important that each parent/guardian stays for the entire program in order to bring & take their child home and to receive important school information. Immediately following the conclusion of kindergarten orientation, we will have the students practice our dismissal procedures. The dismissal process is an important part of the orientation day and can take up to 30 extra minutes after parents are dismissed to their cars. Please plan accordingly.

When you arrive at school for orientation, you may use our parking lot, driveway, and bus loop for parking. Please arrive after 9:40 AM so we can assist you with parking your car. We will also assist you and your child with finding their homeroom.

Bulleted below is a brief agenda of the morning activities:

  • 9:40-9:55 Arrival- Parents/guardians arrive with their child through the main entrance.

  • 10:00-10:15- Students & parents in the classroom with teachers (teacher introduction)

  • 10:15 - Announcement for parents/guardians only to report to the all purpose room/cafeteria.

  • 10:20-11:00- Introduction of specific Whitehall staff & PFC president, and general info.

  • 11:00-11:30 - Dismissal process (parents/guardians will be dismissed from the all purpose room, back to their child’s classroom for pickup). Each parent/guardian will wait for their child to be called and escorted to the classroom door. ***This will take time, please be patient with this very important process.

If you are unable to attend the orientation, please remember to send your child with his/her school supplies and transportation information (bus number/emergency contact numbers) on the first official day of school, Monday, August 29th. Please be aware that all kindergarten students must be picked up by a family member/guardian, etc. from their bus stop after school or they will be returned to school. If this occurs, parents/guardians will be responsible for picking up their child. Please arrive each day at the bus stop 10 minutes before arrival time. Please also note, kindergarten students must ride in the front of the bus.
