Norristown Area School District Board Reappoints Superintendent Dormer for Five More Years
At their September Regular Voting Meeting, the Norristown Area School District Board of School Directors unanimously approved a new, five-year contract with current
Superintendent of Schools Christopher Dormer. The current 2020-2021 school year is the third and final year of Dormer’s initial Superintendent’s contract with the district. The new contract will take effect on July 1, 2021, and will run through June 30, 2026.
In a statement, Dormer shared his appreciation and gratitude to the Board. “I am humbled that our Board has shown confidence in me with their willingness to offer and approve a new contract. I have absolutely loved my time in Norristown, and am thankful that we were able to get a new agreement done early. It is truly an honor to serve the families, staff, and community members of Norristown, East Norriton, and West Norriton. I am proud of what we have accomplished in my first two years, and look forward to even better things to come. I am excited to continue leading us on a path of ongoing growth and excellence as we continue to tell our story, build a community of learning, and ensure literacy for life for all NASD students.”
A statement issued by Board President Shae Ashe praised Dormer’s leadership. “I have full confidence in our Superintendent to make the best decisions for our students and teachers to increase the services we provide to the community. I appreciate his collaborative efforts with our community, board, administration, and teachers.”
The current school year marks Dormer’s 25th year in public education and fifth year with
Norristown Area School District. This is his third year as Superintendent, after spending his first two years as Assistant Superintendent. Prior to Norristown, Dormer worked three years in the Oxford Area School District, 13 years in the Upper Darby School District, and four years in the Lower Merion School District.
Dormer’s starting annual salary for the new contract will be $220,000.
