Principal
Dr. Kirksey became Principal of Whitehall Elementary School in the Norristown Area School District in July of 2017. She began serving students and families in the Norristown schools as a fourth grade teacher almost 25 years ago. After working 12 years at the elementary level as lead teacher at J. K. Gotwals Elementary School and Cole Manor, Dr. Kirksey moved into administration at the middle level. For the next 8 years as Assistant Principal at Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy, she enjoyed watching her elementary students become teenagers, and eventually young adults at their high school graduation. Today, she continues to work with some of those same students as parents themselves, whose children attend Whitehall Elementary School.
As a native of Norristown, Dr. Kirksey graduated from the Norristown School District. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University; a Masters in Special Education from Beaver College; Principal’s Certification, Curriculum and Instruction Certification, and Doctorate in Education from Arcadia University.
Dr. Kirksey has been awarded Who’s Who Among Students of American Universities and Colleges, the Kids Day America Children's Empowerment Award for improving the lives of children in Norristown, Norristown’s Finest Award, and the NASD Going Above and Beyond Award. She was also presented with the Key to Norristown which is kept in a shadow box next to her high school diploma, and Norristown "N".
Her dedication and personal commitment to educating students is visible in her daily work. As a servant leader and advocate for all children, Dr. Kirksey feels honored to serve the students, teachers, and families of Whitehall each day.
In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband, daughter, and granddaughter. Dr. Kirksey also enjoys reading books and articles of interest, a great movie, long walks on a beautiful day in the fall, as well as viewing an early morning sunrise at the beach.
