Your child’s nutrition educator is offering an exciting four-week online cooking workshop for your entire family called Cooking Beyond the Classroom! The workshop is for Cole Manor grades 1 - 3. For one hour a week, for four weeks, you’ll learn about keeping our bodies healthy, cooking as a family, and how to create simple recipes that everyone in the family can enjoy. We’ll provide all of the recipe ingredients and some cooking utensils; you’ll just have to log onto Zoom! Students will receive the food at dismissal. For those who participate, you will be entered into a raffle to win a prize. Your children will also receive a chef hat and an apron. The class will be offered from 5:00-6:00PM on the following 4 Wednesdays: March 4, March 11, March 18, and March 25. Use the QR code to register for the 4 one hour sessions in March. The program can only accommodate 20 families and you must register with the intent to attend all 4 sessions by Tuesday February 24th.
Our Cole Manor leaders had a special guest reader for our monthly celebration of diverse literature, Read Across America. Thank you to our School Board of Directors Vice President, Cynthia Davenport, for reading to several of our classes today. Being a guest reader ignites excitement about literature and gives our families an opportunity to model fluent reading in English and Spanish. Girls on the Run is back at Cole Manor for our 3rd and 4th Grade Girls! The program will take place here at school and students will need to be picked up promptly at 5:30 PM. Flyers will be coming home today with the information. There is a QR code to scan on the flyer to register your child and make sure to use the code COLE26 for registration fee. Cole Manor's 3rd grade scholars celebrated progress and growth on STAR Assessments with a pizza party on Friday. From fall to winter, 3rd Grade had a 21% decrease in students performing in the below basic band on STAR Reading and a 13% decrease in students performing in the below basic band. 3rd Grade students also showed a 10% increase from fall to winter in students performing proficient and advanced on both subjects. Congratulations to our 3rd grade students and team!

The Student Advisory Council met with Mr. Dormer this week to discuss changes they would like to see here at Cole Manor!
Last night was the Holiday Craft Night here at Cole Manor. Mrs. Kresge guided the students and their families on making the gingerbread house craft. The event was a great success and brought the Cole Manor community together during this holiday season.
Our wonderful PFC hosted a Pop Up Shop for our Cole Manor leaders. Our students loved shopping for their families and themselves! Thank you to our PFC for their time and dedication to our students.

The Parent Faculty Club is hosting two holiday pop up shops in December. The first one is on Friday December 5th and the second one is on Friday December 12th. The shop will be open during lunch periods. All students will have the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts. The shop is cash only and prices of items range from $1.00 - $5.00. The PFC is looking for volunteers at the holiday pop up shops. Here is the link if you would to help out:

The Parent Faculty Club is also hosting a Holiday Grams Fundraiser. Send holiday treats to friends, classmates, or teachers. Each candy gram is just $2.00 and includes a candy cane and hot cocoa. Fill out the candy gram form completely and return it to your teacher in with payment in a sealed envelope by December 10th. Cash or Venmo accepted. Candy grams will be delivered on December 19th - Just in time for the holiday fun!
The Book Fair is Here! Students are able to shop during their library time. The last day of the book fair is Wednesday November 26th. The book fair will be open during evening conferences on Tuesday November 25th and morning conferences on Wednesday November 26th. Cole Manor had a wonderful family workshop last night that was all about science! Our 3rd and 4th grade families learned about Amplify Science and our shift in science standards. We had representatives here from Fluxspace and the Public Library. Our families shared about their favorite "sciencey" places to visit, and their favorite science shows to watch, while enjoying pizza and snacks. Our families also learned about the free family passes that they can check out at the library, to visit places such as the Please Touch Museum for free. We are so grateful to our Cole Manor families; thank you for another wonderful family workshop!
