Joseph Thomas Headshot

Mr. Joseph Thomas comes to East Norriton Middle School after spending more than 15 years in the Chichester School District in various teaching and leadership roles. Most recently Mr. Thomas has served as the acting Principal at Chichester Middle School. Prior to this role he served as Assistant Principal at Chichester High School. In addition, Mr. Thomas also functioned as the Dean of Students at Chichester Middle School and High School from 2017-2021 and began his administrative career as the Director of Activities and Athletics in 2016. Formerly a Special Education teacher and head varsity baseball coach from 2010-2015, Mr. Thomas also spent two years at the Delaware County Intermediate Unit working in their special programs unit.

Mr. Thomas grew up in Kenmore, NY (outside Buffalo, NY) and then attended Marietta College (Ohio) where he played baseball while obtaining an undergraduate degree in 2000. He subsequently earned a Master of Science degree in Special Education from Mercyhurst University in 2006. He went on to earn his teacher certification from Temple University in 2008 and in May of 2015 he completed his Principal Certification at Immaculata University. He continued his education and earned a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management from West Chester University in 2023.

Mr. Thomas was a 21st round draft pick by the Boston Red Sox in 1997 and played professionally for seven years. He also coached professionally as well as collegiately at both Mercyhurst University and Temple University while attending graduate school.
