💉 Community Vaccine Clinic — Saturday, October 10, 2026
Montgomery County is offering community vaccine clinics for individuals and families who live, work, or attend school in Montgomery County, including one right nearby at Davenport Elementary!

Vaccines available:
Flu and COVID vaccines for ages 6 months and older

There is no cost or co-pay for vaccination services. Insurance may be billed; if you have insurance, please bring your insurance card.

Even though the rain forced us indoors, it didn’t dampen our spirits one bit—the energy at Marshall Street was incredible and everyone had a fantastic night! 🌧️🎉
A massive shoutout to TeachKind for donating the most delicious vegan ice cream—it was a huge hit with everyone! 🍨🌱 Between the frozen treats, crunchy popcorn, refreshing popsicles, and awesome music, it was the perfect way to spend the evening.

👓✨ Vision Screening Tomorrow! ✨👓
Tomorrow, our 2nd grade students will receive comprehensive vision screenings from the Drexel University Vision Van!
All students receive an in-school vision screening with our nurse using a Spot Vision Screener. The Vision Van provides an additional, more comprehensive screening—but please remember, a screening is not the same as a complete eye exam and does not diagnose vision problems.
Clear vision is very important for learning and school success. Uncorrected vision concerns may make it more difficult for a child to:

Read
Focus on books or worksheets
Complete schoolwork comfortably and efficiently
Participate fully in classroom activities
Supporting healthy vision can make a big difference in school success! 📚🌟

Scooter the turtle 🐢 came for a visit from the Elmwood Park Zoo as part of their Zoo on Wheels program a couple of weeks ago! Zoo on Wheels comes about twice each month to our Autistic Support and Multiple Disabilities Support classes to share interesting information about different animals.
We'll now be in the CAFETERIA for tonight's ice cream social! Enter through the main lobby. Tonight, 5:45-6:45 PM. Thanks for the flexibility, we can't wait to see you there!
No School Monday, September 21 – Yom Kippur
Reminder: There will be no school on Monday, September 21 in observance of Yom Kippur. Students and staff return on Tuesday, September 22. We wish all who are observing a meaningful holiday.
Early Dismissal Reminder – Friday, September 18
Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is an early dismissal day! Students will be dismissed at 12:20 PM.
Please ensure your child's pickup or transportation is arranged for the earlier time. Buses and vans will follow the early dismissal schedule. Thank you!

Update: Registration has CLOSED due to being at capacity for our Instrumental Music program for grade 3 and grade 4 students under the direction of Mr. Heizmann! Refunds are not issued after registration, and instruments were assigned until exhausted on a first come, first serve basis.
Third grade students may choose to learn the violin/viola or cello this year; 4th grade students may choose to learn the violin/viola, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or play percussion.
Registered students are required to bring their assigned instrument every Monday for lessons and are then pulled from their regular class schedule once a week for approximately 35 minutes; students are also required to take their instrument home after their lesson with Mr. Heizmann each week to practice on their instrument and develop their skill.
Families are invited to attend our required annual Spring Concert showcase performance when students show off their amazing talents at the end of the year.
Lesson groups will begin meeting at the end of September. Please contact Mr. Heizmann with any questions at aheizmann@nasd.k12.pa.us

Our youngest learners spent time today reflecting on unity, kindness, and community heroes. To mark Patriot Day, our kindergarten students proudly colored the USA flag while talking about what it means to be a good friend and neighbor.

When: Tuesday, September 22, 5:45-6:45 PM
Where: Marshall Street’s 1st-4th Playground
Beginning Tuesday, September 8, 2026, all 1st grade walkers will be dismissed from the gym breezeway doors (marked by the yellow arrow on the map). Students will stay inside until teachers have confirmed their pick up person is present, then will release the student through the doors to their identified pick up person. This is an additional safety measure similar to the process already in place for kindergarten and 2nd grade, who are held in the fenced area near the kindergarten playground for dismissal.
When you arrive to pick up your 1st grader, please stay on the sidewalk or grass near the building, leaving room for exiting students to walk on the sidewalk and out of the way of the car rider exit area (green arrow). We will ask the student’s teacher's name first, so please have that information ready!
Please be patient! This process will get quicker as teachers get more and more familiar with the faces of our frequent pick-up people and match them with our students! Safety is our number one priority and we must make sure that we are releasing students to the right person each day.
