Born in 1933, Charles L. Blockson dedicated his life to preserving African American history when it was often overlooked. His work helped create one of the largest and most important Black history collections in the world. In 2023, our school was proudly renamed Blockson Middle School, reminding our students every day that their history matters. #WeAreBlockson #HonoringTheLegacy

On Friday, January 23rd, 5th graders David and Giovanni went down to the National Constitution Center to act out an essay they wrote for an essay contest from the Rendell Center for Civics and Civic Engagement. Over 200 schools across Pennsylvania submitted an essay for this contest back in November and David and Giovanni's essay was one of the ten finalists chosen. We are extremely proud of these two amazing students!

El viernes 23 de enero, los alumnos de quinto grado David y Giovanni visitaron el Centro Nacional de la Constitución para representar un ensayo que escribieron para un concurso organizado por el Centro Rendell para la Educación Cívica y el Compromiso Ciudadano. On Saturday, January 24th some of our amazing 7th grade students presented and competed in the Future Cities Competition at Archbishop Carroll High School in Radnor. After months of hard work and research they represented Blockson Middle School to the highest of standards! They answered questions all morning from judges and engineers and then presented in a closed door session to a separate panel of judges. In the end they received 2 awards from the judges! We can't express how proud we are of this extraordinary group of students! Thank you to everyone who supported our students and the parents who spent the day with us!

(EN): 🚨❄️ Due to inclement weather, NASD schools and offices will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. However, learning will continue through a Flexible Instructional Day (FID). Students and staff will follow a Virtual Day schedule.

Tomorrow was originally scheduled as an early dismissal day for grades 5–12. To honor that schedule and provide our staff their grading time, students in grades 5–12 will conclude their instructional day following the live, synchronous sessions in the morning.
