🎶 A Round of Applause for Our 3rd & 4th Grade Musicians! 🎶

Last week, our talented 3rd and 4th grade Band and Orchestra students performed for our parents and guests—and this afternoon, they took the stage again for the entire school!

Under the direction of Mr. Eric Norton, and with the accompaniment of Mrs. Emily Bulman and her student teacher, our students delivered an outstanding performance. From the first note to the final bow, they showed dedication, confidence, and pride in their work.

We are proud of their hard work and the effort they put into preparing for these performances! 👏

Thank you to our families and staff for your continued support of the arts!

Egg-citing things are happening in Mrs. Acquaviva’s classroom! 🐣

Our chick eggs officially arrived today, and we are ready to begin our hatching journey! Over the past few days, our students have been busy learning all about embryology—exploring how chicks grow and develop inside the egg.

Students are so excited to take on the responsibility of helping care for the eggs and, soon, our baby chicks! Stay tuned as we watch this amazing life cycle unfold right before our eyes. 💛🐥

🎤 Student Voice in Action at PVF! 🐼✨

Today, our Student Advisory Council had an incredible opportunity to meet with Superintendent Mr. Dormer and Principal Dr. Smith to share their ideas and perspectives on how we can enhance the learning experience at Paul V. Fly Elementary School as it relates to this year's district budget.

Our students brought thoughtful, creative, and student-centered suggestions—from expanding after-school clubs and upgrading recess options, to improving classroom spaces and adding new opportunities that support both learning and well-being. 💡📚

At PVF, we believe our students are leaders, and their voices matter. This conversation is a powerful example of how we work together to make meaningful decisions that directly impact our school community.

We are proud of our students for speaking up, thinking big, and helping shape the future of PVF! 👏💙

We are so proud of our 4th grade Reading Olympics team for competing in this year’s Montgomery County Reading Olympics! 📚✨

Throughout the year, our students worked incredibly hard—reading many books, practicing together, and preparing to answer challenging questions as a team. Their dedication, teamwork, and love of reading truly shined during the competition.

Most importantly, they had a great time showing what they know and celebrating all they’ve learned. We are so proud of how well they did!

Way to go, PVF Panda readers! 💙

The Second Grade field trip to Longwood Gardens was such a wonderful experience. The students were excited from the moment they arrived, and the guided tour made it even more special by helping them learn about the beautiful plants, flowers, and gardens in an engaging way. They loved exploring the different areas and asking thoughtful questions along the way. It was a fun, educational day filled with curiosity, laughter, and memorable moments for everyone.

4th Grade students from Mrs. Balalis and Mrs. Windheim's classes enjoyed connecting the book Hatchet, which they read in ELA, to three rotations at Riverbend. They worked on navigation, what is needed for survival, and making a shelter.

Even with an early dismissal, our school made the most of World Down Syndrome Day! 💙💛
Our morning was filled with meaningful activities that celebrated inclusion, acceptance, and the uniqueness of every student:
☕ Barista Jake kicked off the day, serving up smiles (and coffee!) to staff before the school day began.
🧦 Rock Your Socks brought a splash of color to our hallways, as students and staff wore bright, mismatched socks to celebrate how everyone is wonderfully unique.
💃 Special Dance Performance – Our very own 3rd grader, Camila, and her dance partner, Tristan, a talented performer with Down syndrome, shared an inspiring dance performance in the gym.
Students enjoyed this meaningful moment, celebrating inclusion, acceptance, and the unique strengths in everyone. We are so proud of them for spreading such a powerful message!

TOMORROW we will be celebrating World Down Syndrome Day! Students and staff are invited to wear bright, colorful, mismatched socks to celebrate how everyone is unique. We wear mismatched socks because socks are shaped like chromosomes, and people with Down Syndrome have an extra chromosome!
