📊 This Afternoon at Paul V. Fly Elementary School 📊
This afternoon, our K–4 staff participated in a Mid-Year (MOY) Data Review focused on reflecting, collaborating, and planning to ensure every student continues to grow and succeed.
Our teachers did a wonderful job digging into student data, asking thoughtful questions, and working together to determine what’s working well and where additional support is needed as we move toward our End-of-Year goals.
During the session, grade-level teams:
✔️ Reviewed Mid-Year data from STAR and Acadience
✔️ Reflected on progress toward goals set at the beginning of the year
✔️ Identified students who may need additional support
✔️ Planned targeted instruction to help students grow and move out of at-risk areas
This important work supports our school’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and ensures instruction is intentional, data-driven, and responsive to student needs.
We are incredibly proud of our staff for their professionalism, collaboration, and continued commitment to doing what’s best for students every day. 💙📚

Our second Best Buddies event was held this morning! Students joined classes and completed a snowflake craft and then wrote reasons they are unique. We celebrated our differences AND found similarities to one another! It was a great morning!

There will be no school on Monday as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Wishing our families a safe and meaningful weekend. 💙

🎓 Student Voice in Action!
Today, our Student Advisory Committee met in the cafeteria to share feedback on our breakfast and lunch menus — and the discussion was outstanding! 🙌
Superintendent Mr. Dormer, alongside Principal Mr. Smith, led a thoughtful conversation where students shared what they enjoy, what they don’t love, and their recommendations for future menu options. The ideas were honest, creative, and showed how much our students care about their school experience. 💬🌟
We’re so proud of our Fly Flyers for using their voices to help shape a better, healthier school community! 💛💙

This afternoon our students learned about our new incentive program, Panda Pennies! Students will be working for Panda Pennies in place of Golden Tickets. In a few weeks, the Panda Pennies Shop will open for students to spend their pennies on awesome prizes! We even had a special visit from our very own Panda!

🐼🦅 Reminder! Tomorrow is Eagles Spirit Day at Paul V. Fly! Wear your green & white or favorite Eagles gear and show your school spirit. Let’s fly with pride! 💚🤍

Season’s greetings to our Paul V. Fly families! Wishing you a joyful, peaceful, and restful holiday season filled with time together and moments to cherish. ❄️✨

Thank you to the wonderful high school students that completed a project to help get books in the hands of all of our kindergarten students!! The high school Gear Up leadership club teamed up with Chick-fil-a to package books with encouraging messages for elementary students in our district! They came to read the books to Paul Fly’s kindergarten classes. Students helping students at the holidays!!

Early dismissal tomorrow begins at 12:20 PM. Please notify your child’s teacher and the main office if there is a change to your child’s transportation.

On Monday, 1st grade enjoyed a wonderful assembly with paleontologists Mr. Mike and Ms. Roberta. The students got to learn all about fossils and it was followed up by a “Dino Dig”. 🦴 🦕

So proud of our students at Paul V. Fly who created snack bags for families in need and wrote heartfelt cards to help spread kindness through Giving Tree Families. 💙 #StudentsSpreadingKindness

As we get closer to winter break, students are learning about the various winter holidays celebrated this time of year. Mrs. Dunn's class learned about Hanukkah with Mrs. Wechsler by reading a fun story and learning how to play the dreidel game!

Students in the Paul V. Fly Best Buddies joined together for a festive morning making Holiday scented and colored play doh! Students made their own using flour, salt, water and added festive colors and even a bit of peppermint scent! It was a great morning of laughter, creativity, and teamwork.
