The Second Grade field trip to Longwood Gardens was such a wonderful experience. The students were excited from the moment they arrived, and the guided tour made it even more special by helping them learn about the beautiful plants, flowers, and gardens in an engaging way. They loved exploring the different areas and asking thoughtful questions along the way. It was a fun, educational day filled with curiosity, laughter, and memorable moments for everyone.

4th Grade students from Mrs. Balalis and Mrs. Windheim's classes enjoyed connecting the book Hatchet, which they read in ELA, to three rotations at Riverbend. They worked on navigation, what is needed for survival, and making a shelter.

Even with an early dismissal, our school made the most of World Down Syndrome Day! 💙💛
Our morning was filled with meaningful activities that celebrated inclusion, acceptance, and the uniqueness of every student:
☕ Barista Jake kicked off the day, serving up smiles (and coffee!) to staff before the school day began.
🧦 Rock Your Socks brought a splash of color to our hallways, as students and staff wore bright, mismatched socks to celebrate how everyone is wonderfully unique.
💃 Special Dance Performance – Our very own 3rd grader, Camila, and her dance partner, Tristan, a talented performer with Down syndrome, shared an inspiring dance performance in the gym.
Students enjoyed this meaningful moment, celebrating inclusion, acceptance, and the unique strengths in everyone. We are so proud of them for spreading such a powerful message!

In preparation for Rock Your Socks Day and Autism Acceptance Month, Ms. Bale's class made inclusion pizzas! They decorated their pizza with "toppings" all about how we practice inclusion. Sharing, recognizing everyone's' voices, being helpful, and more!

TOMORROW we will be celebrating World Down Syndrome Day! Students and staff are invited to wear bright, colorful, mismatched socks to celebrate how everyone is unique. We wear mismatched socks because socks are shaped like chromosomes, and people with Down Syndrome have an extra chromosome! 🐄🌾📚 A “MOO-velous” Visit for Our First Graders! 📚🌾🐄

Our first grade students had a fantastic time welcoming the PA Friends of Agriculture Foundation volunteers to our school! They shared the fun and engaging story Cows Can Moo! Can You? All About Farms by Dr. Seuss—bringing agriculture to life in a way our students will never forget! 🐮✨

From silly sounds to learning about life on the farm, this experience helped our students make meaningful connections to agriculture and where our food comes from. 🌽🚜

A big THANK YOU to our amazing visitors for making learning so memorable and fun! We appreciate you spending time with our students! 💚

🌈✨ Sweet Learning in Mrs. Altieri’s Class! ✨🌈

Mrs. Altieri’s class turned math time into a magically delicious adventure! 🍀🥣 Students sorted and graphed their Lucky Charms marshmallows, then analyzed their data to discover which shapes appeared the most… and which were the rarest treasures! 📊🔍

From rainbows 🌈 to hearts 💖, our young mathematicians used their graphing skills to compare, count, and draw conclusions—all while having a little fun along the way!

Now the big question… which marshmallow do YOU think showed up the most? 🤔👇

🔬 Science Learning in Action at Paul V. Fly! 🧪

Our 3rd and 4th grade teachers recently participated in another professional development and coaching cycle for our new science program, Amplify Science. During classroom visits, coaches had the opportunity to observe our teachers and scholars engaged in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.

The coaches were incredibly impressed with the thoughtful instruction, strong student engagement, and the enthusiasm our scholars showed while exploring scientific concepts. It was wonderful to see our students collaborating, asking questions, and thinking like scientists!

We are proud of the dedication our teachers continue to show as they grow their instructional practices and create engaging learning opportunities for our students.

Great work, PVF teachers and scholars! 🐼✨

📚 Read Across America Fun in Mrs. Altieri’s Class! 💚

Mrs. Altieri’s class celebrated Read Across America by reading Bartholomew and the Oobleck and then bringing the story to life by creating their very own oobleck! Students loved this hands-on experience as they explored the science behind the gooey mixture while connecting it to the story.

What a wonderful way to combine reading, creativity, and discovery in the classroom! ✨
