Kindergarten used their sense of touch to create comfortable beds for their eraser pets! They felt the different fabrics to find the best material for pillows, blankets and mattresses.

First Grade is continuing to work in the Module “A World of Books.” They have learned that books can teach about empathy. They listened to “Chocolate Milk Por Favor” and talked about how a new student might feel entering a school. They said asking the new friend to play on the swings would make the child feel welcomed! They used Strawbees to design their own swings! They did a FANTASTIC job!

Congratulations to our Golden Ticket winners for the week, who earned an extra recess for their whole homeroom! Great job!

Some of our PVF 2nd graders had the opportunity to use the Power Readers during WIN to practice reading decodable texts

Tomorrow is our first School Store of the year!

September has been a busy STEAM month in fourth grade! We had the 3D name challenge, Lego Communication Challenge, Dot Day centers, and Tower of Knowledge (Sonia Sotomayor). Look out for new posts in October!

Second Grade is working in their “Seasons” Module! They listened to “My Happy Year” and created nests for the mother bird to lay her eggs in.

Fourth Grade continues to learn about the circulatory system! Students represented the heart, veins, arteries, and capillaries with yarn and crayons. They created heart pumps to represent the blood being pushed from the ventricles to the lungs and body. They were “pumped” about this STEM experiment!

Congratulations to our golden ticket winners for the week who earned a new book and bookmark!

Congratulations to our first Golden Ticket winners of the year! These students participated in a fun game involving teamwork with Mrs. Wechsler and Mr. Smith! Congratulations!

Today our 4th graders began studying the meaning of a literal great heart. They used model magic clay and straws to find their pulses and watch the straw move on its own. They were pumped!

Kindergarten began their Module on “The Five Senses.” They started with the sense of sight and created lists of the different colors, shapes, and sizes they could see. After, they read “Pete the Cat and his Magic Sunglasses.” They used STEM Building Sticks, Bendy Sticks, and/or Pipe Cleaners to design their own pair of glasses!

First Grade began their Module on "A World of Books." They learned that books can teach about different traditions, cultures, and time periods. After creating a list of different things they could learn from books, they read "How to Change the World in Twelve Easy Steps." They used their knowledge of shapes to create a flower on a geoboard. Their designs are magnificent and sure to bring a smile to everyone!

We are celebrating Hispanic Heritage month at Paul Fly! Lucy in Mrs. Altieri's class came dressed in the traditional Costa Rican outfit. She also shared items that she had from Costa Rica. Lucy is very proud of her Costa Rican heritage!
