It's the Fall Ball Y'all! The 3rd and 4th Grade Students at Hancock Elementary School had a lot of fun at this year's Fall Ball 2025. Students were able to take photos with their friends and classmates at the fall-themed photo area, enjoy drinks and snacks and dance the night away thanks to DJ Swizz. Thank you to all of our staff volunteers for all of your help and thank you to the students for your enthusiastic attendance.

🎃 “Farm adventures and fall memories!”

Hancock's Character Parade will be RAIN or SHINE! If it is raining, we will have families meet in the Gym to watch the Characters parade across the stage. If it is not raining, Characters will parade outside. Reminder: Families will only be able to take their children home early if they have registered on the form by tonight (Wednesday at 7:00 pm). No exceptions!
Looking forward to seeing everyone dressed as their favorite book character (no Halloween costumes)!

Our fourth grade students visited Riverbend Environmental Education Center last week. They explored the ecosystems of a forest, a stream and a pond. They also learned to identify living and non-living things within each system.

Hands-on literacy! Students practiced sight words and CVC words using shaving cream for a fun sensory twist.

On Tuesday, October 7th, we hosted our very first Family, Science, and Fun workshop at Hancock Elementary — and it was a blast! Students and their families explored hands-on, STEELS-centered activities designed to spark curiosity and creativity.
From 3D printing and Lego engineering to experimenting with magnets, electricity, and even building suspension bridges out of spaghetti and marshmallows — there was something for everyone! Families also learned more about the Norristown Public Library and enjoyed delicious apples, courtesy of Frecon Farms in Boyertown.
A big thank you to the Norristown Library for partnering with us to make this event such a success. 🎉 Students who completed a science-themed scavenger hunt were even entered to win tickets to Legoland!
We’re already looking forward to the next one!

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, our third graders had the special opportunity to welcome guest readers from the 10th grade! The high school students shared stories that highlight Hispanic culture, history, and traditions, helping our younger learners connect with the joy of reading while honoring this important month.

Hancock’s Student Advisory Council’s first meeting of the year with Mr. Dormer!

3rd grade is studying books about the ocean - last week we looked under the microscope to see a plankton egg! We studied the word "microscope" - We were able to see the tiny egg up close. We know the plankton eat the phytoplankton!
Don't forget ... tomorrow night from 5:30-6:30 we have our first family workshop - Science, Family, Fun! Don't miss out! We are even raffling off some tickets to LEGOLAND! Hope to see you there :)
