Norristown, PA — The Norristown Area School District (NASD) is proud to announce the selection of Dr. Dorrell Green as its next Superintendent of Schools. The NASD Board of School Directors will vote for Dr. Green at its upcoming meeting on Monday, June 22, 2026. Dr. Green currently serves as Superintendent of the Red Clay Consolidated School District in Delaware, where he has led the district since 2019.
Dr. Green’s selection concludes a five-month search process led by the Norristown Area Board of School Directors and their search firm, Alma Advisory Group. Community voice remained central throughout the process, with engagement efforts including surveys, focus groups, and listening sessions designed to gather input from community members. These perspectives helped shape the leadership criteria used throughout recruitment and selection.
The search attracted strong national interest, with 88 applications resulting in a highly competitive pool of candidates. Finalists participated in a confidential, multi-round interview process that included a representative community panel of parents, teachers, staff, district leaders, community members, and students.

Dr. Green’s Biography
Dr. Green brings more than 25 years of experience in public education. As Superintendent of Red Clay Consolidated School District since 2019, he leads one of Delaware’s largest and most diverse school systems, serving approximately 15,000 students across 28 schools. Throughout his career, he has earned a reputation as a collaborative leader committed to student achievement and educational equity and was recently named the 2026 Delaware Superintendent of the Year.
Under his leadership, the district has expanded early childhood education through the Red Clay Early Years initiative and strengthened college and career pathways through increased access to advanced course work, certificate of multi-literacy and other innovative programs. During his tenure, multiple Red Clay schools and programs have earned National Blue Ribbon School Status and statewide recognition for academic excellence and student support, including success in serving the second largest multilingual learner population in the state of Delaware. 3 of the top 5 US News ranked Delaware high schools are in Red Clay.
Prior to serving as Superintendent, Dr. Green served as the inaugural Executive Director for the Delaware Department of Education’s Office of Innovation and Improvement, where he was selected by Governor John Carney to support local and statewide turnaround initiatives. He previously served as an assistant superintendent, principal, and teacher, bringing extensive experience across all levels of the K–12 system.
Beyond his district leadership, Dr. Green has contributed to numerous statewide and community organizations, including serving as President of the Delaware Chief School Officers Association and as a board member of the United Way of Delaware. A standout student-athlete, he was inducted into the University of Delaware Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his football career.
Dr. Green earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Wilmington University, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education from the University of Delaware.
